Hyllestad

Hike to Sauesnyken from Øvre Heggebø
A popular hike through woodland and onwards into open mountain terrain, leading to the summit at 507 metres above sea level. Along the way, you’ll enjoy beautiful natural scenery and a steady ascent before the views open up at the top. Combine the hike with a longer circular route via Laviksåta and Handalsstølen before returning to the hotel.
Fossfossen
Just two kilometres from the hotel, you’ll find Fossfossen waterfall, beautifully situated beside the distinctive stone bridge along the historic Trondheim Postal Route. The waterfall is easily accessible, with both a gravel road and parking nearby, making it perfect for a short excursion. We also offer bike hire if you’d like to enjoy a scenic cycle ride to the waterfall.

Grillhytta at panorama
The Grill Cabin is a lovely, family-friendly walk suitable for most people. From Øvre Heggebø, an easy path with a gentle incline leads up to the cabin, and the route is suitable for both pushchairs and bicycles. Along the way, you’ll find benches for resting, while the area around the cabin offers great opportunities for play, barbecuing, and relaxing in nature. Enjoy the cosy cabin atmosphere with beautiful views, sign the guestbook, and perhaps hang up a hammock for an extra peaceful break.

Sauna by Heggebøstranda
Just one kilometre from the hotel, you’ll find Heggebøstranda beach with its sauna – perfect for warm summer days and refreshing winter swims. Here, you can combine relaxing warmth with an invigorating dip in the sea. We’re happy to help you book the sauna. Heggebøstranda is easy to reach on foot or by bike, and bicycles are available to hire from us.

The Millstone Park
The Millstone Park is a unique open-air museum located in the largest millstone quarries from the Viking Age and the Middle Ages in Scandinavia. The park offers exciting experiences for the whole family. Here, you can try grinding grain using a real millstone and bake your own bread over an open fire - inspired by traditions from days gone by.
